Laser Warning

Laser Warning

Use of controls or adjustments or performance of procedures other than those specified herein may result in hazardous radiation exposure.

This product is classified as a Class 2 laser product and complies with the applicable parts of IEC/EN 60825-1 Ed. 2.0:2007 and Ed. 3.0:2014.

Do not stare into the beams emitted from the product. Intentional long term viewing of CLASS 2 levels of laser light can be hazardous. This product uses diffractive optics to scatter the beam energy. This scattering effect causes the energy concentration to drop below the exposure limits for momentary or accidental viewing at a relatively short distance from the laser aperture. As with all bright light-sources, when you operate this device in unsupervised general public areas, it is recommended that up-close access to the light be restricted or prevented and the beams be directed into locations where persons are not expected. This laser display device incorporates a CLASS 3B laser system which, by itself, may be hazardous. However, this laser display product incorporates a protective housing and diffractive optics in its design so that there is no exposure or human access to laser radiation during operation or maintenance above the CLASS 2 limits. Each individual laser beamlet's power is below the Class 2 limit of 1 mW. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES shall attempts be made to open the protective housing or operate the device if the aperture window is damaged.

All service to this laser display device requiring the protective housing to be opened and/or removed shall be performed by service personnel or their authorized agents. Opening the protective housing voids the warranty.

NO LASERS SHOULD BE POINTED INTO THE SKY WITHIN 10 NAUTICAL MILES (18.5 km) OF AN AIRPORT. IF YOU ARE LOCATED WITHIN THIS SPECIFIC PERIMETER, WE RECOMMEND THE LASERS BE POINTED DOWN AT THE GROUND SO NO STRAY BEAMS ARE PROJECTED INTO THE AIR. CHECK WITH YOUR LOCAL AIRPORT OR PROVINCIAL GUIDELINES FOR FURTHER INFORMATION.

Quick Start Guide

Note

Before operating the X1 projector, please read the Important Safety Notice section of this user manual. This projector is designed to ONLY be used in a dark room with a low light environment.

For best projection result, please ensure the projector is placed at a location that meets the following minimum requirements:

  • A dark room (with no light pollution such as a TV or table lamp).
  • Projector facing towards a ceiling/wall that has at least a 9 ft x 9 ft flat surface.
  • Projector placed 5–8 ft from the ceiling/wall.

Install the disc onto the disc tray

Remove the disc tray from the projector. Align and press the disc to the disc tray with the front side facing up. Then turn the disc counter-clockwise to fixate the disc. Hold the gear wheel on the disc tray with a finger when you turn the disc.

Insert the disc tray

Insert the disc tray into the projector with the front side facing towards the lens.

Connect the power

Connect the Odyssey X1 to the USB cable and USB adapter.

Power on

Press the power button. The LED projection and laser stars will gradually illuminate.

Adjust the focus

Rotate the focus dial to adjust the projection clarity until you get a clear image. Rotate clockwise and counter-clockwise until the center of the projection image is clear and focused.

Quick start steps: installing the disc, inserting the disc tray, connecting power, powering on and adjusting the focus dial

How to Adjust Focus Dial

You MUST adjust the focus dial in order to get a clear image of the projection.

  • Rotate the focus dial clockwise or counter-clockwise until the center of the projection image is clear and focused.
  • For best clarity, you may need to try back and forth and rotate delicately when the image is starting to get clear.
  • If you are setting up the projector for the first time, turn the focus dial clockwise all the way to the end, and then turn counter-clockwise gradually until you get a clear focus.

Note

Due to the optical structure of the projector, the surrounding area may not be as clear as the center area for some discs, especially when the lens is placed at an angle, or the projection is not on a flat surface. This is normal due to the principle of optical imaging. This is not a product defect.

For best projection result:

  • The darker the display area, the brighter the projection image will appear.
  • Ensure the projector is facing towards as close to the center of the wall/ceiling as possible.
  • Ensure the lens is facing perpendicularly to the wall/ceiling.
  • Ensure the center area is focused before the surrounding area.

How to Install or Change a Disc

Important

The disc MUST be fixated to the disc tray. Turn off the projector before removing the disc tray to avoid a sudden brightness change that may hurt your eyes.

  • To remove an existing disc, hold the gear wheel with one finger. Use two fingers of your other hand to hold the disc and turn it clockwise.
  • To install a disc, align and press the disc to the disc tray. Then turn the disc counter-clockwise to fixate the disc. Hold the gear wheel on the disc tray with a finger when you turn the disc.

How to Adjust Projection Angle

  • Hold the top part of the projector and pull up the lens to adjust the projection angle. Avoid touching the lens.
  • You can adjust the angle from 0° to 90°. Spin the projector back and forth to find a ceiling/wall position that has the largest flat surface area.
