R28 Quick Start Guide
Set up the LaView R28 Battery PT Camera: charge it, pair it in the LaView app, install the solar panel, mount the camera, learn the live-view controls, and link it to Alexa.
This Quick Start Guide for the R28 Battery PT Camera walks you through charging the camera, downloading the LaView app, adding the camera, installing the solar panel, mounting the camera, using Live View & more functions, and the optional Alexa setup.

App Set Up
Download and Install App
- LaView App is available for both iOS and Android OS. Search the name 'LaView' in App Store or Google Play. (The other LaView apps, such as LaView Connect, LaView ONE, LaView Life do NOT support R28 camera.)
- Please download the LaView App from the App Store or Scan the QR Code below.


Add Camera
Note
- Make sure your smartphone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
- Please keep the camera close to the Wi-Fi router during the adding process.
Get ready to set up
Power on the camera to get it into the ready-to-setup state.
When the camera enters the ready-to-setup state, the indicator light will flashing slowly in red and play a prompt.
Note
If the indicator light does not flashing slowly in red, press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds to reset the camera.

Option 1: QR Code Network Setup (camera scan the QR code displayed on your phone)
Click the '+' icon or 'Add Device' button on the home page (Figure 1).

Select 'Video Surveillance' > 'R28-2.4Ghz' (Figure 2).

Confirm that the Wi-Fi name and password are correct, and click "Next" to generate a QR code that carries the Wi-Fi information.
Note
The camera only support 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.
Use the camera to scan the QR code on the phone, Press "I Heard a Prompt" after the camera reads the QR code and make a sound prompt. Then the camera will start pairing.
If the pairing is not successful, press the Reset button for 5 seconds until you hear a sound prompt and start again. Or check the FAQ section for more troubleshooting steps.

Option 2: AP Mode Network Setup
Click the upper right corner to change the network configuration mode to "AP Mode" and follow the steps.

Make sure your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
Connect your phone to the camera hotspot shown on the right:

Go back and add devices.
Solar Panel Installation
STEP 1. Use screws to attach the solar panel to the solar panel mounting bracket.

STEP 2. Install it on top of the device, aligning with the arrow indicator.

STEP 3. Connect the Type-C connector to the Type-C port of the solar panel.

Note
For better waterproof performance, please remove the small Type-C silicone plug.
Mount the Camera to the Wall
STEP 1. Drill holes using the drill bit and the included wall mount bracket, then insert the anchors into the holes.

STEP 2. Firmly secure the camera onto the mounting bracket.
STEP 3. Adjust the direction of the solar panel as necessary.

Mount the Solar Panel to the Wall
STEP 1. Drill holes using the drill bit and the included wall mount bracket, then insert the anchors into the holes.

STEP 2. Firmly secure the solar panel onto the wall mounting bracket.

- Night Mode:
- Color Mode With Spotlight: In this mode, the camera keeps the color of the image and will turn on the spotlight to capture better-quality pictures.
- Black & White mode: In this mode, the camera will always presents black and white night vision mode.
- Theme Color: light mode or dark mode
- PIR: PIR sensors detect motion of live object such as human or animals
- Siren: When you perceive danger, you can turn on the siren at any time to expel possible dangerous factors
- Messages: Alarm notifications
- Direction: Pan-Tilt control
- Data Top-Up: Click to check 4G data usage or renew subscription plans

Enter the setting interface of serial number 4.
Basic Function Settings
- Flip Screen: Flip the live view screen
- Time Watermark: Display local time
- Talk Mode: Switch to select One-Way Communication or Two-Way Talk mode.
- a. One-Way Communication: Hold the talk button to talk
- b. Two-Way Talk: Tap the talk button on the panel to start talk
Power Management Settings
- Battery Remaining: Check the remaining battery level
- Power Source: Check the power supply mode of the device
- Set The Low Battery Alarm Threshold: Remind you when the device battery is low
Other Functions
- Offline Notification: You will be notified if the camera is offline.
- Visit FAQ Articles: Display common problems to help you troubleshoot problems quickly
- Share Device: You can share this camera with others so that they can watch the camera as well.
- Add to Home Screen: Put this camera on the phone's home screen so that you watch it more quickly.
Alexa Set Up (Optional)
Before You Start
Link the LaView Skill
In the LaView APP, go to the camera you are setting up, and tap the 'Edit' button to enter the camera menu.

Tap the camera model number or camera name.

Edit the camera name to one that is easy to pronounce such as 'Baby Room', 'Front Door Camera', 'Living Room' etc.

Tap the Menu icon and choose 'Skills & Games' in the Alexa APP.

Search 'LaView' and choose the 'LaView' skill. (Not LaView ONE)

Tap 'ENABLE TO USE'.

Log in to your LaView APP account and tap 'Link Now'.

Tap 'Authorize'.

Tap 'Done' after the LaView APP is linked to the LaView Skill.

Tap 'DISCOVER DEVICES'.

Wait until the Alexa APP discovers the LaView camera. Check the following if Alexa repeatedly fails to discover the camera:
- Ensure the LaView camera is powered on and set up in the LaView APP.
- Ensure the Alexa device, such as Echo Show, is set up and connected.
- Ensure the camera is added to the LaView account that is linked to the LaView Skill in the Alexa APP.

You can now tell your Echo device to show the camera feed by calling 'Alexa, Show Baby Room'. You can change and update the camera name in the LaView APP camera menu. (Refer to Step 3)
